'Get The F--- Out Of My Face,' PA Man Tells Officer Before I-95 Pursuit, Nearly Hitting Officer

A man accused of parking across two handicap spaces without a placard escalated a simple citation into a vehicle pursuit, nearly striking an officer in the process, Lower Chichester police announced Sunday, Jan. 19.

Timothy W. Watkinson, 29, was charged with misdemeanor fleeing or attempting to elude police, summary reckless driving, and summary careless driving, police said.

Watkinson was parked in two handicap spots at 10:08 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17, when an officer approached his vehicle to issue a parking violation, police said. The car had darkly tinted windows, was not running, and displayed no handicap placard, police said.

As the officer engaged with Watkinson, he reportedly rolled the driver’s side window partially down to argue about how long he had been parked there. Watkinson repeatedly rolled the window up and down, concealing his movements inside the vehicle, police said.

The officer reported detecting "a strong chemical smell" from the car, which they associated with possible methamphetamine manufacturing or possession. When the officer ordered Watkinson to stop the vehicle, he allegedly responded, "Get the f*** out of my face," before aggressively pulling away, nearly striking the officer, police said.

Watkinson then led officers on a brief pursuit through the township and onto I-95 North, reaching speeds of 80 mph before his vehicle appeared to malfunction, police said. The chase was terminated after officers identified Watkinson.

On Thursday, Jan. 17, Watkinson was arrested at the Linwood District Court after arriving to address what he believed were minor citations, police said.

His preliminary arraignment was held the same day. Further court proceedings are pending.
